Quick Links to Reviews:
The Microderm GLO Diamond Microdermabrasion System by Microderm GLO was released early 2016 and gathered right away a majority of 5 stars.
Most positive reviews refer to the fairly strong suction power, the ease of use and the fast results.
Also a feature that made unanimity is that it is a real portable unit with no cable hanging and with a battery that lasts very long.
Another positive aspect of this system is that the manufacturer, Microderm GLO Skincare USA, first priority is customer satisfaction and they will replace with no delay any malfunctioning device.
Some customers were also please with the results when using the Microderm GLO Diamond Microdermabrasion System on other parts of the body like neck, arms and hands.
When it comes to negative reviews, apart from the usual non realistic and without argumentation “doesn’t work” or “don’t buy”, some customer would prefer if it came with an extra microdermabrasion machine diamond tip for the same price (can be bought extra).
THE PROS
THE CONS
2- Trophy Skin MicrodermMD - Professional quality
This professional quality microdermabrasion device combines exfoliation and gentle suction to remove dead skin cells and stimulate cell regeneration.
Made from diamond particles, the unique tip fixed on a hose is perfect for combating dry, dull skin and fighting signs of aging and pigmentation.
If you are new to microdermabrasion, you can start with the built-in auto mode.
Much like a home aesthetician, the Trophy Skin MicrodermMD machine guides you through a pre-programmed routine on an LCD screen, showing you where to place the diamond tip wand.
THE PROS
THE CONS
3- Microderm GLO MINI Diamond Microdermabrasion and Suction Tool - Small, Compact & Portable
The Microderm GLO MINI Microdermabrasion system is the "little sister" of the Microderm GLO series. Smaller in size, it offers two suction levels, compared to the three of the big unit. The shape of the unit is also designed for better portability.
It comes with two quality diamond tips, Premium and Fine/Precision, compared to the above model which comes only with one diamond tip. It includes also two blackheads suction tips (standard and fine), a nice extra if you ask me!
When I researched for this new Microderm GLO MINI device, I was surprised by the number of positive reviews. "Ease of use", "reducing pore size", "decreases wrinkles depth", "lightens acne scars", "removes blackheads", "skin is softer" are the most common feedback.
THE PROS
THE CONS
4- PMD Personal Microderm Classic - Easy to Use
Being a more popular and well known microdermabrasion device, the PMD Personal Microderm System has gathered a mixed opinion from its users. Favorable reviews seem to take a 70% of the votes for 30% of negative reviews.
The most positive statement from people who bought this unit was regarding the spectacular results they had on their skin. Some even compared it to professional results.
Also most of the positive reviews issue a warning when it comes to its use and frequency of use. Most customers emphasize the fact that a proper and thorough study of the instruction manual and video is necessary before the first use in order to avoid damages to your skin.
For the negative reviews many customers have reported the suction to stop after a few sessions. As for the warranty, there is a 30 days return policy and 1 year limited warranty but there have been some rumors stating that warranty or return policy is not valid when bought out of the regular channels.
THE PROS
THE CONS
5- Silk’n: Revit Microderm Device - Best for Travel
Positive reviews will report a similar quality as a professional spa session and there is even one user that claims that the Silk'n Revit Microderm Device had even better results than a salon microdermabrasion treatment.
Apart from the amazing results on their skin, positive reviewers also mention the practical and ease of use of this unit.
For the negative reviews, except some broken units that are covered by the warranty, there was a misconception aspect from some users who thought that this device could vacuum blackheads and blame a poor suction. In fact the manufacturer stipulated that this device is not meant to be used on blackheads and that there is a specific unit that would work better on acne.
Some also complained of the price of filters ($10 for 30 filters) but some other users simply washed them after every use and never had a problem.
THE PROS
THE CONS
6- Zeny: 3 in 1 Diamond Microdermabrasion Machine - Has it All
Let’s start with the negative reviews where there is a predominance in the user manual lack of instructions for assembling the Zeny 3 in 1 Diamond Microdermabrasion Machine different parts. It is a fact that the manual that comes with the shipment is more focused on how to perform a professional microderm session than to assemble the different machine components. Many users have found videos on YouTube that would clarify the missing information (you can also view it on this page).
Another negative aspect raised my reviewers was the ambiguity about the voltage of this device to be adapted to other countries outside the US (is it 110v as well as 240V?). The truth is that I got confused myself as the pictures shows a 110V power supply and the manufacturer claims it is adapted for international use.
There were some reports on poor suction and diamond tips quality but there mostly based on an inadequate use of the system. Some also reported that some o-rings were missing but they were already installed on the wands.
One last critical review mentioned poor results on active acne, but people who know what microdermabrasion can do, know that it can have results on acne scars but not recommended on active acne.
A lot of the positive reviews were made by professional estheticians and that says it all. There were numerous testimonials praising the ease of installation and use and the improvement on the skin after only a few sessions.
Good suction and visible improvement on stretch marks were also reported a few times.
THE PROS
THE CONS
7- Trophy Skin: MiniMD Handheld Microdermabrasion Device - Complete Body Treatment
Two types of complaints (I couldn’t find any other) are repeated by negative reviewers. The first one is the insufficient or not adapted suction power. This critic is mainly based on the included tip that is not so adapted for certain bony or irregular surfaces of the skin where it cannot lay perfectly on such parts. It is obvious that the solution for this problem will be to use more adapted tips (I will talk about this later on!).
The second negative aspect reported by customers was that the Trophy Skin MiniMD Handheld Microdermabrasion Device does not offer fast enough results. It is evident for people who are more familiar with microdermabrasion that some treatments on hyper-pigmentation or acne scars need to be carried out on a substantially longer period of time in order to see concrete visible results.
On the other hand it can be understandable to think that these new easy to use handheld devices can have instant results whatever the motivation for using them because there have been a lot of misinterpreted promotions or reviews.
The majority of the Trophy Skin reviews that I could find around this product was positive ones and was focused on the high level of suction, the amazing results even after a few treatments, the optimum penetration of lotions and moisturizing creams after treatment, the money saved from spas and beauty salons, great customer support service (some faulty devices have been quickly replaced at no cost, except shipping cost maybe).
THE PROS
THE CONS
8- Kendal: Diamond Microdermabrasion Machine Bm01 - The Classic Home System
Satisfied customers mainly praise the ease of use, the results on their skin, the durability of the components and a great customer service.
You would also read positive reviews for the BM01 Kendal Machine regarding its multipurpose use. Happy users have reported using it with great success on face, legs, feet, arms, neck and chest.
Unhappy customers are mostly blaming the instructions that are difficult to understand as written in bad English and the poor suction power.
THE PROS
THE CONS

Click Here to view the Kendal Diamond Microdermabrasion Machine Bm01 Instruction Manual (refer to pages 11 to 13 of the manual)
9- Kendal: 3 in 1 Diamond Microdermabrasion Machine BM02 - The Multifunctional
As for the previous unit, the Kendal 3 in 1 Diamon Microdermabrasion Machine BM02 one is also manufactured by Shining Image, China based, with basically has the same longstanding presence on the market.
Bad reviews report not being able to use some of the components, like the spraying bottles, due to improper instructions on how to assemble them.
The good reviews, apart from the good results on the skin, the ease of use, the great value for the money and the helpful customer support, report also that this machine is also highly acclaimed for the misting function that supplies constant spraying and offers a nice cooling effect to the skin after the exfoliation and the vacuuming.

THE CONS
Bonus Review:
10- Kendal Professional Diamond Microdermabrasion Professional Machine hb-sf02 - The Most Powerful
The Kendal Professional Diamond Microdermabrasion Machine hb-sf02 raises controversy and confusion among buyers.
If there is a majority amount of positive reviews from users, one major drawback of this device is the fact that the instruction manual is not providing enough information as for the setup or some filters replacement.
Some buyers of this kit contacted, by email, the manufacturer about the lack of information and the answer was to look for answers by watching youtube videos.
Well this isn't very professional but even if you were looking for videos on YouTube you wouldn't find anything really helpful.
So I went and did some research and I found some videos that could cover some setup questions and I realized that there is another model that look right like the HB-SF02, and it is the NV500B by Nova (which seems to be unavailable at the moment!).
It seems, one more time, that a China company built multiple identical models under different names.
A general feeling of satisfaction comes from customers who bought this unit especially due to its strong suction power and the wide selection of diamond tips.
One isolated buyer reported having received a used machine but after contacting the manufacturer it was immediately refunded.
THE PROS
THE CONS
How to choose the best microdermabrasion machine?
To choose the right home device, I strongly recommend that you consider the following criteria that can be found in most microdermabrasion at home reviews:
Prices
The ideal price range for the best kit at home is generally between $100 and $300. This may seem like a big investment, but having a reliable machine at home can really save you a lot of money.
In comparison, a microdermabrasion session can cost from $50 to $150 in a beauty salon. If you need about 10 sessions to get the desired results, you quickly understand why a home kit is much more economical.
Life expectancy
If you pay for something, you want to be sure it's worth it, right? A good home microdermabrasion machine must have a long service life.
In addition to the materials used, you should also evaluate its warranty. If something happens, you will be insured for several years.
The duration of the warranty also gives an indication of the manufacturer's confidence in his product, it is a good indicator of the reliability of the product.
Suction power
Whether you are using a crystal or a diamond machine, you must ensure that your home device has good suction power. The suction power is directly related to the efficiency of the machine.
A low power will not give you spectacular results. Avoid low-end models sold for less than $50, where suction power is often the main weak point.
Ease of use
Just because the new microdermabrasion machines can be used at home does not mean they are easy to use. You need to find one that is not too complicated to use, clean and store.
Home Microdermabrasion F.A.Q.
Microdermabrasion: What is it?
It is an advanced and safe exfoliation technique that will remove skin dead cells and restore radiance of the complexion.
Not to be confused with dermabrasion which is is a type of surgical skin planing, typically performed in a professional medical setting by a dermatologist or plastic surgeon trained specifically in this procedure.
So don't look for dermabrasion home device, instead the microdermabrasion is the type of machine you will want to look for.
Among the available machines or kits, there are two main categories we must differentiate:
- diamond tips
- or crystals
Diamond microdermabrasion is a safe and non-invasive procedure for mechanical exfoliation of the skin.
It smoothes deeply and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin while promoting the micro-circulation through heads of real laser-cut diamonds and sucks the dead skin cells to facilitate the renewal of the epidermis.
The diamond head gently exfoliates the top layer of the skin to smooth the surface while controlled suction stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. The combination of suction and pressure helps to make the skin uniform and allows you to customize treatments, depending on the type of skin.
In the case of microdermabrasion systems with crystals, microparticles (usually aluminum oxide crystals) are projected on the skin and subsequently aspirated with the dead skin cells through the machine itself.
Both practices rejuvenate the skin, especially by erasing wrinkles and fine lines and is most often performed on the face, neck and hands.
Is at home microdermabrasion effective?
The results are immediate, although everything will depend on the type of problem you want to treat and the type of skin.
For example, for spots or acne, microdermabrasion will have an immediate effect, but several sessions will be required to cleanse the skin thoroughly.
For brown spots, wrinkles and scars, the result will be visible after several sessions. The results are very satisfactory and they do not produce major side effects compared to the benefits obtained, unwanted effects can be:
- Irritation of the skin, discomfort and the appearance of redness on the treated area.
- There may be risks of infections, when the treatment is misused or when the sessions are too close together.
- Exposure to the sun is strongly discouraged immediately after a microdermabrasion session as it may appear on the skin of the oedema or brown spots may appear on the treated area.
Is microdermabrasion good for your skin?
- It stimulates the upper layers of the skin.
- It improves the oxygenation of nutrients which improves the microcirculation of capillaries.
- It eliminates dead cells and regenerates new ones.
- It eliminates and softens wrinkles and expression lines.
- It can eliminate acne scars.
- It can reduce stretch marks and cellulite.
- It evens out the complexion.
What is the best professional microdermabrasion machine?
There is no doubt that the Kendal Professional microdermabrasion machines HB-SF01 and HB-SF02 are the most popular among aestheticians, dermatologists, or other clinical professionals.
Even though these devices are initially oriented for a professional use, they are also very popular as home use machines because of their ease of use, accessories and competitive price.
Microdermabrasion: what happens during and after a treatment?
The session is not painful, the only effect felt by people who have tested is a feeling of warmth like during a massage.
Following the session, the skin may peel slightly, it is completely normal, no worries therefore, it is not an allergy or a skin reaction following treatment.
Know that after having such a treatment, you should not be exposed to the sun for at least 3 days and you don’t want to use any scrub or peeling.
In other words, leave your skin alone!
Microdermabrasion: Who can do it?
It is ideal for people:
- who wish to erase the effects of aging on their face and thus refresh their complexion
- which have sunspots due to the sun
- who have oily skin, enlarged pores, and mild acne
- who have acne scars
- who have stretch marks on the neckline
This treatment is generally reserved for normal skin who suffer from imperfections, whether related to sun, sebum excess, or to stretch marks and scars.
However, it must be stressed that dark skin is a little delicate to treat, so you will have to be very careful and perhaps follow the advice of a dermatologist if you are concerned.
It is not indicated against freckles. People wishing to eliminate freckles may turn to treatments such as depigmentation peels, for example.
Although a microderm treatment is much softer than a peel, which makes it useful for many types of skin, especially for black skin that tends to be easily weakened.
The home kits are often criticized by dermatologists who believe that the results are minimal compared to those from the care of professionals.
This kind of statement is understandable as dermatologists and beauty salons have lost a great deal of clients since the market has been flooded with home microdermabrasion machines.
Two of the main differences between spa and home microdermabrasion are that devices used at a dermatologist or beauty salons generally have a larger motor and more power, and they penetrate deeper into the skin to provide more precise exfoliation.
What are the benefits of microdermabrasion for your skin?
- The main benefit is that it removes dead skin cells accumulated deep under the skin. It achieves a deep exfoliation of the skin. That’s why it eliminates impurities, dead cells and accumulated dirt on the skin due to makeup and external factors, such as pollution.
- Because it exfoliates the skin, it can improve the appearance of facial pores. Not taking good care of your skin or not removing your makeup dilates the pores of your skin and blackheads as well as redness may appear. With microdermabrasion you can forget all the above risks as it will remove the surface layers of the skin and regenerates it.
- One other very important benefit is that it stimulates blood flow, which gives you a well-nourished skin. The skin becomes more beautiful, softer, younger, brighter and healthier. When the skin is “sanded”, it is reborn, like new, thus delaying the signs of aging.
- Reducing puffiness and edema is another of the benefits. This technique allows the skin to be hydrated and the blood to flow better. The skin is thus unobstructed, unlike what happens when you don’t take good care of your skin and don’t exfoliate your face regularly and correctly.
- Microdermabrasion is a treatment that has no side effects. After a session, your skin may be a little red because of exfoliation, but it is not an allergic reaction. The treatment can therefore be performed without risk of causing irritation, rashes or skin lesions.
- On more benefit is that it is an outpatient treatment, which therefore does not require hospitalization. It is painless, but a rubbing sensation may sometimes appear.
- Finally, perhaps one of the best benefits of Microdermabrasion is that the results are immediate. After a treatment, the skin is immediately softer, brighter, more beautiful and healthy and after two days, the effects of the session are even more surprising.
What should I do after a microdermabrasion treatment?
Microdermabrasion is a rather gentle, non-painful technique that does not require local anesthesia.
After a deeper treatment, there may be slight tingling or even a slight sensitivity. It is sometimes accompanied by a minor swelling for a few days.
The treated surface is more sensitive and delicate after the treatment, so avoid exfoliating or irritating creams (eg vitamin A) the following days.
Wash the treated area gently with mild soap.
Do not expose treated surfaces to the sun for a few days, and preferably use sunscreen.
The presence of side effects is rather exceptional since it is a soft technique.
However, certain cutaneous conditions requiring a more in-depth intervention can cause small superficial crusts. They will fall after a few days, just be careful not to tear them off.
It is normal and desirable to observe fine desquamation (shedding or pealing of the outermost layer of the skin), then you will just have to sufficiently moisturize your skin.
Several microdermabrasion sessions are usually necessary, depending on the condition of the skin surface to be treated.
But it is suggested to wait at least 6 to 7 days between two therapies.
Does microdermabrasion actually work?
You might probably think (like me) that you can have a scrub at home instead.
Good homemade treatments do a lot of good, but the depth of the exfoliation and especially the microdermabrasion suction cannot be reproduced without the professional equipment.
The effect is immediate on the complexion's radiance and in addition, the treatment is very relaxing, like a mini massage.
To my great surprise, with microdermabrasion we are very far from the peeling that some beauticians applied 15 years ago, which heated, tingled and lifted the skin!
So I understand that I have deprived myself of a care that I might have liked to have had during all these years.
We never stop learning!
I hope my article showed you how to find the home microdermabrasion machine you need.
Now I want to turn it over to you:
What device did you prefer and why?
Is there a subject that I've left uncovered?
Either way, let me know by leaving a comment in the area below right now.
