Why sugar? Because powdered sugar is a perfect unknown exfoliant.
Indeed, it contains glycolic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid widely used in skincare products, especially peels.
By melting on the epidermis, it will, therefore, exfoliate the skin by chemical reaction. As for its texture in the form of small grains, it is perfect to get rid of dead skin and make your skin smooth and beautiful.
Whether it’s brown or white, go for the sugar! Simply avoid icing sugar, unless you want to look like a regular at the court of Versailles under Louis XIV.
My sweet tip: always count one part of very fine sugar in one part of organic oil or organic cream. You will then obtain a paste to be massaged very gently on the face until it melts, for a very effective home peeling.
But also to have very soft lips!
What about the salt?
We don’t necessarily think about it, but because of its texture, salt is also a natural exfoliant that has many benefits.
The first one: its price. For the rest, it has, like sugar, the property of eliminating dead skin and smoothing the skin. It is only suitable for the body and not the face.
It is up to you to choose your salt according to the desired effect. Fine grains will be useful for a fairly precise exfoliation when coarse grains are perfectly suited for a superficial and invigorating scrub.
I still advise you to avoid coarse sea salt, which is a little too corrosive for my taste. The rounder and more regular the grains are, the better the result.
Let’s go for a really greedy body scrub with sweet-and-sour notes.
To prepare this natural scrub, you just need to mix the following ingredients in a glass jar :
- 4 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon of salt (personally, I often take regular grain Guérande sea salt)
- 2 to 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil (I like sweet almond, but it works just as well with olive oil).
Mix well and use one large handful per area to be scrubbed. You will have enough for 1 or 2 whole body scrubs depending on your body size. The mixture will not last more than a few days!
No need to go shopping; you’ll easily find all the ingredients for this quick and easy treatment to make directly in your kitchen and you can use it up to twice a week in the shower.
As a bonus, I’ll give you one more little tip.
Occasionally, I like to add three drops of lavender or sweet orange essential oil to this preparation.
If you have some at home, don’t hesitate to try it. Not only will it make your skin feel soft, but it will also smell deliciously good.
Thank You!♥
